Concealed Carry Weapons Courses

Posted by Deb on October 11, 2008

Chigger Ridge Firearms offers certified qualification training for Missouri residents to obtain their Missouri Concealed Carry of Weapons Permit.  My certification as a trainer is from the National Rifle Association, and includes qualifications in First Steps, NRA Pistol, and NRA Home Firearms Safety.

Classes are scheduled once per month on a Saturday.  We can have the training during the weekdays, even conducting it on two consecutive evenings, if there’s the demand for it.

The training is compliant with Missouri law, and requires a minimum of eight (8) hours to complete.  It utilizes the NRA’s First Steps Pistol program (3 hours), which teaches about handgun safety and basic shooting technique.  Next is training on Missouri statutes on Concealed Carry, individual requirements to obtain the permit, Defense of Justification information and Castle Doctrine laws (2 ½ hours).  Finally, we’ll go to the Chigger Ridge Firearms range for handgun practice, training and qualification (2 ½ hours).  This is a private range, and is not open to the general public.

If you have your own handgun, please bring it and train and qualify with it. We require that there be no live ammunition during the classroom portion of the training. If you do not have a handgun, we have a few .22 semi-automatics for which you can train and qualify for a small rental fee.  The training requires 70 rounds of ammunition, which can be purchased from our shop if you don’t have your own.

Training slots are limited, so reservations are required.  The course fee is $100.

Contact Boomer at (417) 548-6544 (ofc), or 417-499-2236 (Cell) for reservations or if you have questions.

Next Class: Feb 13, 2010. Classroom portion will begin at 8 a.m. and will be held at the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church of Sarcoxie, Mo. Then we’ll move to the range here at Chigger Ridge. Watch the weather and dress appropriately. Remember this is Southwest Missouri, and if you don’t like the weather, just wait 30 minutes. It’ll change.
