Bergamot & Mandarin Soap v.2

I made a second batch of soap for the May Soapmaking Challenge. The challenge is to make a soap using a combing tool for the design. I decided to use my recipe from last month’s challenge. All ingredients, scent and colors are the same – only the design is different. It looks so different!

If you read my post about Calypso Sun Post, you might remember that my combing tool was a little bit off. Well, I’ve made a new tool and spaces the prongs a little further apart. It has made a big difference! It was very easy to glide through the soap batter, and that helps to make a more consistent design. I went ahead and ran a chopstick through the batter after combing to create a “peacock” swirl.

While this is a very good soap and smells wonderful, I’m still not convinced it would do well in competition. I want the swirl lines to be more defined and crisp. So, I’m off to create another batch of soap!
