Wild Currant & Sandalwood Dark Beer Soap

I have a new hard shampoo bar . . . Wild Currant & Sandalwood Dark Beer Shampoo. It’s made with real Guinness Stout beer, and the fragrance is a light blend of wild currants, dried berries, and warm sandalwood.

I’ve always heard that beer is good for your hair. I’ve tested a small bar from this batch and really can’t tell much difference from it and my regular shampoo bar, but I know it’s every bit as good.

The added beer gives new meaning to “hard shampoo bar.” I once tried making soap with Mike’s Hard Cider, and adding lye to the cider did not end well. (It ended with a volcano, and me cleaning up an awful mess!) But this time I had no trouble at all. The beer mixed well with the lye, and I was pleasantly surprised at how creamy the batter turned out. It turned a dark caramel color naturally from the beer.
